I’m a Personal Finance Expert—These Social Media Savings Hacks Are Dangerous

As a personal finance writer, my social media feeds are constantly filled with content from personal finance influencers — or "finfluencers" — sharing their so-called best strategies for paying off debt, getting rich quickly, and more.
While some of these tips can be valuable, there are times when I stumble upon advice that makes me do a double take — and not for the right reasons.
Here are some of the worst financial tips I've encountered on my feeds, along with a few suggestions for steering clear of bad money advice on social media.

2 Tech Stocks You Should Consider Buying for 2025 and Beyond

Tech stocks soared in 2024, and while the sector has recently cooled off, the Nasdaq Composite (NASDAQ: ^IXIC) is still trading just below the record highs reached last December.
However, not all tech stocks have followed this upward trajectory. Some iconic industry players are still trading well below their 52-week peaks. Let’s take a closer look at semiconductor giants Micron Technology (NASDAQ: MU) and Intel (NASDAQ: INTC), both of which may be trading at attractive discounts right now.
Micron Technology: Down 35% from Recent Highs Micron has seen a significant dip, but the company is a major beneficiary of the artificial intelligence (AI) surge. AI systems, particularly those used for training and operating generative AI tools, require immense amounts of memory.
This is particularly true for DeepSeek, a large language model (LLM) known for its cost-efficient hardware. The AI accelerator cards powering DeepSeek v3 require over 1.5 terabytes (TB) of high-speed video memory (VRAM). While lighter models can be run on high-performance laptops, even the older DeepSeek v2 236B needs more than half a TB of video memory. Fitting this much memory into a single system, especially a laptop, is a challenge. Currently, the largest laptop RAM modules available top out at 48 gigabytes (GB), while servers can access up to 256 GB memory cards.

Milei Crypto Scandal Expands: Allegations Surface Against His Sister

The political firestorm surrounding Argentine President Javier Milei's involvement in a crypto scandal has shifted focus to his closest adviser and gatekeeper: his sister.
Hayden Davis, a key player behind the Libra token — which saw a surge followed by a crash on Friday night after Milei endorsed it on X — reportedly bragged in a text message to another investor that he was paying Karina Milei to influence the president's actions. This was according to separate reports on Tuesday by Argentina’s leading La Nacion newspaper and crypto site CoinDesk. Davis, who has not responded to multiple comment requests, denied to CoinDesk that he made any payments to the president.
